Day 1. 1/2 day, Thursday, June 12: Our typical meeting location will be the park in downtown Jackson Hole. We will meet about 3 pm. From there we will head out to the Snake River Overlook and the Schwabacher Landing areas. They are approx 30 to 45 minutes (depending on traffic) That will put us in a great position for sunset. Then return you back to your car/hotel just after dark.
Day 2. Full day. Friday, June 13: We are up early (meeting spot to be determined) We will run out to Mormon row area for sunrise. It's an iconic shoot with the old barn and the Tetons in the background. (Sunrise is behind us and Tetons in front of us, it makes for a great spot) There are a few old farm buildings and with the backdrop it's an amazing place to shoot. From there we will run back down to Schwabacher Landing in the river bottoms and look for animals, work on Black and White landscapes. These areas were very popular with Ansel Adams. By this time the light will be blown out and harsh. We will head back into town and grab some food and relax. After dinner we head back out to the Cunningham Cabin area and shoot the sunset, getting you back after dark.
Day 3. 1/2 day. Saturday, June 14: Again we meet early and run up to Jackson Lake dam for sunrise. This is about an hour drive, so we need to leave early, from the damn area, we work our way back towards Jackson. There are many spots to stop as we head back, Potholes turnout, Jenny Lake overlook, String Lake. As we head back we can decide which path to take. There are NO bad spots, only tourists and usually a lot of them. By late morning the light is going to be blown out, so we head back into Jackson, we will find a local restaurant, eat food and discuss the past adventures. We will look and critique at your photos, give some tips on processing your captures. At the end of lunch we will conclude the workshop, so you can get back to your hotel rooms and flights back home.
Please note: Our photography guide will always be on the lookout for interesting images during our photo adventure and for this reason, our itineraries are always subject to change. Weather plays a major role in capturing the best images possible. Changing light and weather conditions will always be assessed and changes in the schedule will be made accordingly. Flexibility, patience, and a sense of adventure are key to having a great time and capturing stellar photographs.
